Back 40 Property Services is a lawn care and property maintenance company working out of Raleigh, North Carolina. We mow and edge on a route schedule, build and plant beds, wash driveways and siding, set fence posts, build and refinish decks, and wire low-voltage landscape lighting. The work covers Wake County and reaches into Durham County. One number to call for all of it: (720) 869-7552.

Questions

Before you call

What can Back 40 do on my property?

Six services, and they overlap the way real yard work overlaps.

  • Lawn care — mowing, edging, string trimming and a blow-down of every hard surface before we leave.
  • Landscaping — bed layout, planting, mulch and grading, priced by the project.
  • Pressure washing — driveways, siding, decks and walkways, at pressures matched to the surface.
  • Fencing — new wood and board fence, gate hardware, rotted post replacement, priced per linear foot.
  • Decking — new builds, board swaps, railing work and sealing.
  • Landscape lighting — path fixtures, uplighting into tree canopy, transformers and timers.
Why does yard work here need local knowledge?

Central North Carolina sits on red clay. It holds water at the surface, then bakes into something close to brick when the rain stops. A hole dug for a fence post in July behaves nothing like the same hole in March. Clay is why aeration matters here more than in sandier parts of the state, why a new bed usually needs amending rather than just filling, and why poor grading turns into a standing puddle instead of draining away quietly.

The calendar matters too. Spring brings a yellow pollen layer over every horizontal surface. Summer runs hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms, which is exactly the stretch when cool-season fescue thins out and warm-season Bermuda and zoysia take over the growing. Fall brings weeks of leaf drop from the willow oaks and pin oaks that shade so much of this area. Each of those seasons changes what a property actually needs.

Which towns do you serve?

Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Wake Forest, Garner, Holly Springs, Knightdale and Morrisville in Wake County, plus Durham in Durham County. Each of those has its own mix of housing stock, lot sizes and HOA rules, and we schedule routes around that.

How do I get a price?

Call and describe the property, or ask for a walk-through. Mowing and washing are quoted per property because lot size, slope and access drive the time. Landscaping, decking and lighting are quoted per project. Fencing is quoted per linear foot.

Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Closed Sunday.
